Hikes & Holidays

It's been awhile! Here I am going into my almost 32nd week of pregnancy! It feels so close yet so far away still.. But it's crazy to think that we'll most likely have a baby next month!!

We moved out of our first apartment. We were so grateful to call that tiny one bedroom home. I think that place made us even more grateful for our new place, it's a world of a difference and I feel like I'm in heaven sometimes! I'm grateful that Wes has an awesome job that allows us to live in our new condo and for me to stay home with our baby and continue school online- one day I'll get my nursing degree, it's just going to take me a little bit longer which is ok!

For Christmas, Wes surprised me big time! We weren't supposed to get the keys to our new place until around the first of January. But somehow he managed to get the keys 2-3 weeks earlier!! He got home from work one night and said that he had a big date planned. I was super excited because he had it all planned out and was really excited. He handed me the first envelope which said, "Pick anywhere you'd like to go to dinner." I love Rumbi so we went there! Then he gave me the second envelope which just said, "Soda Shop" (because we both love that place! Then he handed me the third envelope which said to get lights and ribbon from Hobby Lobby. At this point I was so confused.. He told me to pick some out but I had no idea because I had no idea what it was for. He lied and said we were going to the lake for a couples date where we would have to decorate something.. We then got on the freeway heading in the direction toward Saguaro Lake but then he got off on Sossaman and started dangling a bunch of keys in my face! Now I knew where we were going!!- Our new place!!! I was so excited! And then I realized he had bought a tree. Earlier in the month we decided we just wouldn't get a tree this year because our one bedroom apartment was just too small and we would be moving soon. We were both kind of bummed about it especially with it being our first Christmas being married. He was so sweet to get a tree for us and make our first Christmas married a very special one.

Temple Lights!! Always a fun tradition, they're SO pretty!

Christmas Eve jammies! I made Wes trade me haha mine fit but his were baggier and looked really comfy plus I kind of wanted to see his skinny chicken legs in mine!! I'm the worst but he loved it!

A new Christmas tradition for me now being a Clouse was joining Christmas breakfast for the first time- last year I was super sick so this year was my first year!
The Clouses go every year on Christmas morning with a bunch of other families and set up stations in Phoenix to cook for the homeless. It really was an awesome experience. Christmas is a tough holiday for me for personal reasons and I liked the focus of Christmas being on others instead of ourselves. I love the Christmas season and the fun traditions that come with it but I think the excessive gift buying, feeling obligated to get everyone and their mom a gift and having to open gifts in front of everyone is kind of silly and unnecessary... So it was nice for a change to focus on what Christmas is really about; it was so fun to see all the people that care and to be around family that morning.

New Years!!

Christmas tree fire!

Another perk to Christmas was having Dustin, Heather, Kayla and Cooper here visiting from Utah! It's so fun to see their kids grow but what I love most is watching Wes with them. He loves them so much and has so much fun playing with them- and in return they love him and always go to him so easily. While they were here visiting we went down to the river with Wes' new fishing pole, tried to catch some fish and hung out!

It's cute having a picture like this because he doesn't even know he's getting his first cousin! I hope they become good friends! I've always been the oldest cousin in my family with a huge age gap so I never really had cousins that were close. I'm really excited for my kids to have friend cousins because it always looked so fun in other people's families.

Baby Coops eating a PB&J, so cute!

Ellie!!- the wildest pup ever

One of my favorite spots because of the mountains and the river. I wish it was more peaceful down here but there are always a million families down there getting their pictures taken. I mean, I can't blame them it is super pretty! But I wish there were more options because this seems to be everyones go to picture place haha

Kayla and Wes were buds the whole time they were here, it was super cute how much they love each other.

Wes and Cooper mowing the lawn! Cooper was so cute and had the biggest smile the whole time. I can't wait for Wes to do things like this with our kids.

Wes and I have also done some hiking, well maybe more walking, lately and it's been so nice to get out. I'm usually fine on the hikes, they're usually only around 3 miles but afterward I definitely pay for it! My pelvis becomes so sore to the point it's so painful to walk, it's the craziest and strangest feeling! I hope it goes away after pregnancy because I love running and hiking (I'm sure it's all the extra weight from carrying a baby right on my pelvis basically).

This was on a trail by the wind caves. I love that area but I won't go up to the wind caves for a long time! Too many crazy bees!

This was the start of the Hieroglyphics trail that we did this past week. This trail was so pretty, right along the Superstition mountains, with tons of water and little waterfalls, hieroglyphics from the Hohokam indians and tons of families along the trail. It was so fun to see all the tiny babies and kids- from being in a baby wrap, to little ones that just started to walk to kids adventuring all over! It brought a little image to my head of how much fun we'll have hiking with our kids no matter their age!
